Have you ever wondered what the difference is between people who naturally reach for their goals and succeed in getting what they want, and those who get frustrated in their attempts and stop? Or between people who experience obstacles and challenges as opportunities, and those who experience obstacles as failure? Or between people who are happy and enjoy life most of the time, and those that are often depressed?
NLP is about how we have our thoughts and memories sequenced. It’s about our thinking process rather than the content of our thoughts. Some people’s thought processes are very useful and positive, and lead them in productive directions in their personal relationships and in their professional endeavours. Other people however may frequently experience frustration in their personal and professional communications, and /or in trying to achieve certain goals for themselves. By helping this second group of people change their less successful thought processes, NLP can help them learn how to have more satisfying choices in the way they communicate, as well as in how they proceed towards their desired goals.
NLP focuses on extraordinary results. It was developed by studying the natural processes that great achievers use to consistently produce exceptional outcomes. NLP teaches methods to model any form of human excellence.
History
NLP was developed in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who had combined backgrounds in therapy, math, computer science, and linguistics. They wanted to know what patterns got effective results in therapy, business, education and other areas.
